When people talk about holiday camps, many only think about filling time.
At Kidchen, the logic is different.
Our holiday camps are designed as active learning experiences, where children are the protagonists of their own process. Here, they don't just "do activities". They come to decide, plan, cooperate, and gain autonomy, every day.
From the moment they enter the kitchen, everything is done with intention. Children help set the tables, stand up, observe recipes, fetch the ingredients they need, organize the space, and jointly plan what will be done. Nothing is given to them pre-made. Everything is built step by step.
Autonomy, teamwork, and problem-solving
At Kidchen holiday camps, children work in stages.
They read recipes, interpret instructions, think about the correct order of actions, and realize that every decision impacts the final result.
They are the ones who:
- decide how to divide tasks
- distribute responsibilities
- cooperate to make everything work
- solve small problems that arise along the way
This process is essential for the development of autonomy, organizational skills, and critical thinking. Cooking becomes a powerful tool for learning to wait, negotiate, adjust, and persevere.
More than the final dish, we are interested in the process. That's where the most important learning happens.
Organization and planning: skills for life
The kitchen is a real space.
It demands attention, planning, and responsibility.
In our holiday camps, children learn to organize their time, prepare the space, think before acting, and work in a group with a common goal. They learn that every stage counts and that teamwork is fundamental for everything to go well.
These skills don't stay in the kitchen.
They accompany them to school, home, and daily life.
The Kidchen Easter Camp: through the looking-glass
This year, the Kidchen Easter Camp comes with a very special theme.
Last year, we explored Alice in Wonderland.
This year, we take the next step and delve into Alice Through the Looking-Glass.
This is, without a doubt, the favorite book in this story.
Unlike the first, which is more chaotic and impulsive, Through the Looking-Glass talks about logic, different rules, time, thought, and growth. Alice needs to stop, observe, and decide to be able to advance in a world that works like a chessboard.
That's exactly what we want to work on with the children at the Easter Camp.
How we adapt this story to Kidchen
At the Easter Camp, the story comes alive in practice.
In the morning, the kitchen transforms into an experimentation space, with Easter-inspired recipes, inverted flavors, swapped steps, and thought-provoking challenges. There are recipes that start at the end, unexpected combinations, and dishes that challenge logic.
In the afternoon, the looking-glass remains open with creative activities, board games, logic challenges, patterns, symmetries, and moments of cooperation. All without screens, with time and space to think, create, and share.
The connection between stories, knowledge, and learning is part of Kidchen's DNA. Stories help provide context, meaning, and depth to experiences, making learning richer and more memorable.
What is, after all, the Kidchen Easter Camp?
The Easter Camp is a holiday camp for children aged 4 to 12, designed for families looking for more than just entertainment. It is a complete experience, with cooking, creativity, games, organization, and plenty of room to grow.
It takes place in Lisbon, in Laranjeiras, in small groups, with close and careful monitoring in every detail.
